Inner Power Hypnotherapy
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Are you qualified to deliver hypnotherapy?
Yes, I have spent the last 3 years studying and training to be a hypnotherapist with counselling skills – 1 year studying for the CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) certificate in Counselling Skills; 1 year with Chrysalis Not for Profit for Certificate in Hypnotherapy with Counselling Skills and I continually increase my skills and knowledge with further training sessions and research. The organisations are recognised and regulated by OFQUAL - overseen by The Professional Standards Authority and/or The National Hypnotherapy Society and other professional bodies. In additions to these qualifications, I have an BSc (hons) degree in Psychology and Sociology and a Post-Graduate Teaching Qualification - all of which have enabled me further understanding of how our minds can affect our behaviour/actions in a variety of personal and social environments.
As a member of a professional body – The National Hypnotherapy Society – I follow a strict set of rules and guidelines. Included in this, is that I must have regular supervision sessions and take part in continued professional development courses to keep up to date, maintain high standards and provide the best service to my clients.
Will you have control over me?
No. You will be in control and you won’t do anything that you don’t wish to do. Hypnotherapy involves you being in a state similar to ‘day-dreaming’ or how you feel when being totally engrossed in a good movie or book.
What do I need to do to prepare for the sessions?
As the hypnotherapy sessions will take place on Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp video or similar, it is important to place yourself somewhere where you have a good, stable internet connection. Also, find somewhere where you can be comfortable and not be disturbed. The use of ear/headphones is highly recommended. Some clients have been able to have their sessions in their garden or on their balcony, but please ensure that you are in a place where you can talk freely about personal information and issues. If you wish, you may like to have a glass/bottle of water. with you. Having access to a toilet might be essential too! Having your hypnotherapy session on the beach is an option if you live in or near to Worthing, West Sussex, UK.
For the steps from first contact to subsequent hypnotherapy sessions, please see What to expect – Adults or What to expect – Children.

My child struggles to keep still. Will this be a problem?
Does your child love listening to stories, or can they become so engrossed in a tv programme or game that they don't even hear you when you call them? Then they should be fine. A certain amount of fidgeting is no problem – for some children, this can be how they expend excess energy or nerves. However, if your child is unable to listen or focus for most of the session, then hypnotherapy may not be suitable for them.
My teenager is really quiet, how will you be able to get them to open up?
One of the important pre-requisites with hypnotherapy for children - including teenagers - is that they want to be there. Together with this, I aim to create an environment where they feel free to be honest and open in order to make the changes that they wish. If the child is not ready, then the sessions will be terminated until they wish to resume, if they choose to do so.
